Accounting & Software Training in Calgary

For the convenience of our clients who wish to do some or all of the bookkeeping for their companies, but are in need of some training and instruction on using accounting software, we offer software training. Both of our hourly or 6-hour package options are carried out in one-on-one sessions with our expert trainer in Calgary. Our in-house trainer has 10+ years experience in QuickBooks (desktop version), QuickBooks Online, Simply Accounting and Sage, and has the expertise to train you to use the program of your choice efficiently & effectively.

Training by the Hour

The hourly option is best suited to those who have used accounting software before, but are simply looking to learn some more specific skills or brush up on a newer version of a software program. We will work with you to become familiar with your needs and desired outcomes from this training, and our Calgary accounting software training will help you gain confidence in entering transactions, running reports and completing reconciliations.

Six-Hour Package

Our 6 hour package is designed for and suited to those who are working with an accounting software for the first time, and don’t have any prior experience in this area. It is not, however, designed for individuals looking to become bookkeepers, as we tailor the sessions to the specific needs & requirements of your situation and context. In your one-on-one sessions, we will start from the very beginning; setting up your account or file according to the specific requirements of your company, industry and situation and teaching you to enter the specific types of entries your situation requires. Upon completion you will be able to enter revenue & expense transactions, produce reports and reconcile accounts for month-end, quarter-end or fiscal yearend reporting.

The 6 hour package is structured as follows:

We have found this structure to be beneficial as it allows you to have time in between the sessions to get some hands on, practical experience entering transactions into the software. We recommend that you allow for at least 1 week between each appointment so that you time to implement and practice the skills you’ve been taught.

Not sure where to start or which program/option is best suited to your situation?

Many clients are drawn to the online option of a cloud-based account for the ease of accessing & entering information while at a job site or travelling, or simply to eliminate the need to spend additional time in your office entering expense purchases or invoice payments. The online options also allows for multiple people to enter information at the same time, business owners can issue invoices while away from their office, and can track their own Accounts Receivable with the most up to date information.

In most cases, access to your account can be easily set up, so that information can be viewed in real time by your accountant in Calgary or elsewhere, when it comes time to complete the quarterly or corporate yearend reporting.

Desktop versions of software are often preferred by those who have a dedicated office and don’t spend a large amount of time away from their office. Larger businesses with more people, more bank & credit card accounts and more employees on payroll often prefer to use desktop based software for their bookkeeping.

Those who use desktop software will need to provide an Accountant’s Copy or other backup to your Calgary accountant for the purpose of completing the yearend reporting for a corporation. We can help provide instruction on how to do this if you’re unsure.
